Animal Chiropractic, sometimes referred as Veterinary Chiropractic, is an emerging sub-specialization for Doctors of Veterinary Medicine (DVMs/VMDs) and chiropractors that uses chiropractic techniques on animals. Animal chiropractors provide spinal manipulation, manual therapy and other "holistic" treatment techniques for animals. Traditionally, and in concert with traditional, evidence-based veterinary care, the integrative use of chiropractic has primarily been used for common neuromusculoskeletal conditions.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=CACCP )〕 Today animal chiropractic is used to enhance performance, function and quality of life, reflecting the growth in the use of complementary and alternative veterinary medical treatments. Across North America the current laws and regulations governing animal chiropractic are many times confusing, and even contra indicatory. Some states, such as Minnesota, as well as some provinces, such as Ontario, regulate the practice of veterinary chiropractic. There are many other types of manual therapies for animals, and they are commonly confused with animal chiropractic. Although their practitioners may use the descriptive term 'chiropractic', massage therapy, VOM, Physio techniques, osteopathic techniques, and many other types of therapies are not chiropractic.〔〔〔〔〔 == Scope of Practice == Both doctors of chiropractic (DCs) and doctors of veterinary medicine (DVMs/VMDs) can take additional training to become certified in animal chiropractic. The standard for that training is a minimum of 210 hours of classroom and laboratory education according to the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA)〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=IVCA Educational Standards )〕 () and the Animal Chiropractic Accreditation Commission of the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA). In the past, in Australia, a 3-year Masters Degree in Chiropractic Science (Animal Chiropractic) was offered to licensed doctors of chiropractic, veterinary medicine and/or osteopathic medicine.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=RMIT - Animal Chiropractic – Master of Chiropractic Science incorporating Graduate Diploma )〕 The program is in the process of revitalization. In Minnesota, animal chiropractic care is typically restricted to acts that include; one, the diagnosis of veterbral subluxation complexes (VSC's) and other subluxation complexes of the cranium and extremities; and two, the treatment of those subluxation complexes by chiropractic adjustments.〔 These adjustments may or may not include spinal mobilization and/or spinal manipulation. In some locations, a veterinarian must supervise a doctor of chiropractic's animal chiropractic treatments.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=State Legislative Resources - Issues )〕 Animal chiropractors typically treat working horses and dogs, racing greyhounds and horses, geriatric dogs and cats, and pets of all kinds. Recently chiropractic care is being used more extensively to treat ongoing and chronic pain caused by conditions of the neck and back. Those that focus their care to horses are referred to as "equine chiropractors." There has been discussion over whether animal chiropractic should be performed by licensed veterinarians, licensed chiropractors, or both. It has been agreed by most, that no matter which doctor treats the animal, they should have addition training specifically oriented to animal chiropractic. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Animal chiropractic」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
